Unnecessary Drawings of Failed Photographs
Timothy I Robertson
2020
Beginning its life as a critique of his own photographs, then evolving into a drawing exercise, this zine took its final form as a printing experiment for Timothy I Robertson. For Robertson this process caused the meaning of this piece to reveal itself, being that “it’s about the meeting place of [his] own expectations and reality.” The drawings were made through a process of carving into a mixture of acrylic medium and paint, so when the resulting images were printed on the risograph, the texture of the medium added new areas of color and shape to each image.
